Content Editing
Editing on the level of ideas: crafting a thesis, structuring arguments, developing a rhetorical style. Generally requires conversation or trading manuscripts back and forth. Minimum 2 hours.
$55 / hour
Copy Editing
Editing on the level of language: tightening prose, checking cross-references, querying confusing passages. Work is often delivered via a single edited manuscript. Minimum 1 hour.
$45 / hour
Details
Projects requiring fast turnarounds may be billed at higher rates. Generally this encompasses deadlines within two weeks of beginning the project, but ultimately it depends on the amount of labor, the timeframe and my general availability.
Work begins only after we have agreed, in writing, on a project rate. Estimates are on request. Invoices are prorated per half hour. Per New York City’s freelance regulations, payment is due within 30 days, unless agreed otherwise in writing. A 10% late fee will be assessed monthly.
